Casual Fall Tablescape with Tattooed Pumpkins

We are not a formal family. I had dreams of it, but like most things, the dreams and the reality are two different things for now. That does not mean I do not like or appreciate a beautiful table setting.

Generally for Thanksgiving, the kids set and decorate the table - that is sort of our tradition and it gets them all excited about the meal.So when I have an opportunity to create a tablescape, I jump on it!

As I was tattooing my fruit and pumpkins, I thought these would be gorgeous as part of a tablescape, formal or not! I am so in love with this tattooing thing...I can barely stand it {click the link above for a tutorial}! I am pretty sure you will see a vintage turkey image from The Graphics Fairy on the Thanksgiving table...the kids think this tattooing thing was cool, so they are all for it!

I like layers and layers, so I used three layers of table coverings: an inexpensive chocolate brown table cloth (from target), a couple of layers of a big open weave burlap (hardware store), and an olive green linen cloth and napkins I bought at Goodwill. 

Pretty much every thing on this table, except the glassware

is from a thrift shop.

I tattooed names on the pears for places cards

{I tried a bee, but it was a FAIL...everyone said it looked like a fly...

I need a better bee!}

The overall centerpiece, pumpkins, pears, and grocery store flowers.

I still think it looks pretty and effortless.
I used candle pillars, glass plates, pretty much anything I could
find that was pretty to incorporate into the table for height and interest.
Overall it is a simple look, but the varying heights and
textures make it warm and inviting.
