Guest Post! Redberry Barn is Here!

You know when you meet those people that you instantly love...Jenn from redberry barn is one of them. She is so darn sweet and talented! I am so happy to have her here today sharing a CUTE project!

I am just thrilled to be here on 504Main with you!

Holly is so nice to let me guest blog for her with this simple

project. I had the pleasure of meeting Holly at CHA this past January.

I was instantly impressed with Holly's talents and sweetness!

I started by blog about a year and a half ago to be a type

of journal of my creations and what inspires me.

It has been my therapy ever since!

Redberry Barn

I made a Chalkboard Cake/Cupcake stand to share with you today.

I am actually debating on just having it in Kate's room and display it

on her vanity to make it into a showcase of vintage finds on top.

This is a wooden plate that I bought at Hobby Lobby in their unfinished wood section.

Yes, you read this right...Pink Chalkboard Paint by DecoArt.

I am in LOVE!!

I have so many projects in line using this baby!

I painted the edge and a little into the middle section with this paint.

On the bottom of the plate, I painted it Bahama Blue {DecoArt}

I then cut out a circle to fit in the middle of the plate using the new paper from

Crate Paper, the Emma's Shoppe Collection.

I used the DecoArt Decoupage to adhere the paper in the middle

and to also add a shine to the top.

I couldn't resist adding this little girl jumping rope {crate paper} and I also used

some of Pink Paislee's paper that I cut out. I decoupaged over this

to help with wear and hopefully not tear of this project!

I painted 2 coats of chalkboard paint and then

you are supposed to condition the paint by rubbing

chalk on it and then wiping it off with a wet cloth.

I found this silver candlestick at Goodwill and

I just knew it had the potential of a cake stand!

Around the candlestick, I decided to tie a cute little bow. My favorite ribbon is

from Hobby Lobby {in their ribbon by the yard section} and it has a little bit of

an iridescent sheen to it. I cut a little strip of paper to go around the middle and

then added a tiny embellishment.

I used hot glue to attach the plate to the candlestick.

I did a little tutorial of how I made a bow like this HERE.

You can write whatever you want, the beauty of

chalkboard paint!

that in some way you were inspired.

Guest Post! Preppy Girl on the Farm

Hi all! Today I am very happy to have

(I have always wanted to live on a farm...for real).

I saw this monogram subway art takeoff and thought

it was different and am so happy

Hi 504 Main followers!! I am so thrilled to be here.

I am Angela, the Preppy Girl on the Farm.

I started the blog as a way to share my craft projects

but also my adventures and misadventures on the farm.

I hope you enjoy my project.

I know you have seen a million monograms but hopefully this one is a little bit different.

You will need a canvas, spray paint, a template for your monogram and some sandpaper. My template was chipboard and I just punched out all the H's.

So spraypaint your canvas. I chose a dark brown.

Let that dry and then tape your template onto the canvas.

You can then spraypaint or hand paint your letters.

Let that dry. I then sanded the canvas to give it a worn look.

To add a little something extra, I glittered one of the chipboard letters and hot glued it to the finished canvas. I always use Martha Stewart glitter. It has extra sparkle and comes in many great colors.

A fairly simple and inexpensive project.

Dreaming of New Dining Room Chairs!

My furniture is a mixture of old and new.
I like the eclectic blend and let's face it...I love a deal.
My dining room table is from a dear friend.
About the same time I moved they moved back to England
and found it easier to sell their furniture than move it across the pond.
She knew just where to go, as I had eyed and ogled it for sometime...
and I got quite the price...
and better yet it reminds my of her and her sweet family.

The only drawback...the dining room chairs were weak...and now it has only taken me about 5 years to get looking for new dining room seating. Seriously, the current chairs are a safety hazard - pretty to look at, but scary to sit in. I have considered taking them apart and re-gluing and reinforcing...but it really does not seem worth the effort...I am not sure it would actually help anyway (it has been done once already!). So on the hunt I go for new dining room chairs.

I am thinking that a couple dining room chairs with arms would mix nicely with some armless chairs...but a fun banquette would be a great design detail too - and my kids would think it was cool! My current chairs are all wood with leather seats but I think to brighten the room up a color like white would be fabulous too.

We spend a lot of time at the table when we have game night, so it is a priority to find dining room chairs that are comfortable...maybe some gorgeous upholstered chairs - ones that invite our guests to sit and stay awhile.

I am not going to lie, I am slightly challenged in the home decor area...

and that challenge is my hubby - boy does he have opinions!

But if I can find some great dining room chairs, at a great price,
maybe, just maybe I can convince him to go for it...

and besides I am ready for a freshen up in the dining room...

(that white party is inspiring me)

after all it is right next to my kitchen that we redid last year!

And I did just paint the dining room...

although my hubby has not noticed...go figure.

P.S. Notice - no photos of my dining room - it is nothing to look at yet...I am working on some window treatments...and then I will show you my new paint color...and maybe, just maybe some new dining room seating!

Tickled Pink for Spring

and both kids sick...how much fun can one gal have?
