Santa Fe Inspired Tablescape

I fell in love with Santa Fe 10 years ago.
I was there working on a wedding and spent over a week in Santa Fe
working and enjoying the pleasures of this area.
Even though it was hard (really hard) work planning this destination wedding,
we did get to explore a bit and I only have fond memories of Santa Fe
and look forward to spending time there again (hopefully one day soon).

When I had the opportunity to create a Santa Fe Inspired tablescape
for World Market and Pollinate Media Group I was thrilled.
It brought back so many memories and feelings of this amazing place.

I immediately made lists of what I remember of Santa Fe
and headed to the library to check out
"Santa Fe Style" by Christine Mather and Sharon Woods.

...My list of inspiration...
Tranquil, serene, spiritual, romantic,
elegant but rugged, pure, simplicity,
Adobe, white washed walls, bright turquoise blues,
sunsets, , silver, turquoise jewelry, Georgia 'Keefe,
Saltillo tiles, Farolitos (luminarias), rustic woods,
and a welcoming spirit....

When I headed to my local World Market, I knew the basic look I wanted and my inspiration words in mind. I was so excited to see what I could find to create the look. Here is a peek at my shopping experience and all the amazing things I found. I wish my budget was open ended - I would have invited you all over for dinner!
Amongst their "world" items were so many ways to combine accessories and necessities to create a table reminiscent of just about anywhere (how many more themed dinners can I throw!). I left World Market H-A-P-P-Y with bags full of amazing items to create a fun Santa Fe Inspired evening.
MY SHOPPING TRIP INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING
  • (Amazing) White bud vases...LOVE!
  • Buffet napkins, 6 pack, Bay (blue)
  • Stamped Silver tray with wood handles
  • 2 sets of bangle from the Bangle Bar
  • Buffet Dishes (12 pc. stacking)
  • Cocktail forks
  • Bay leaves
  • I also reused the gorgeous plates I used from the Kingdom Animalia Collection and Exotic Tablescape I did last month.

Even though we are going into Fall, I still decided to use white as a base - if you can wear white after Labor day, you can do a tablescape with it too! Really the inspiration was the pure and simple design aesthetic and I remember many of the homes I went into having white washed walls.
OK, I will stop and get on to the table...
I cold go on and on...and on and on...

I love Farolitos...just love them.
We used them in the Santa Fe Wedding and a house down the street from us displays them around their property at Christmas, and I think they look amazing.
I lined my deck railing with them to create a true outdoor space.
(more info on Farolitos coming up in another post)
I just  had to show you what farolitos look like at night!

CREATING THE TABLESCAPE
I set a table layered with simple white linens
(you can pick those up at World Market too!),
and then stopped at a Home Improvement store to pick up some Saltillo Tiles
(1.20 each at home improvement store) to use as chargers.
I also added on in the center as the anchor for the centerpiece.

I seriously adore these white vases
(I felt a little Georgia O'Keefe inspiration there).
I saw them at World Market on a previous visit...
they may even be the real reason I decided to go with a white base for this table.
I had to have them!
I placed them on the center tile and added some geranium greenery
from my own garden.

My whole point was to not go overboard and keep the table simple, clean,
and serene to reflect my memories of Santa Fe.

I added some votives that I DIYed with my little girlie for contrast. I love contrast in all of my designs - either in color or texture...I feel it adds a lot of interest in the final look.
I tucked a few of the bay leaves around the centerpiece too...I just felt it needed it.

I thought the paper bag votives tied in the Farolitos (paper bag luminarias)
which I considered a must when designing this space.
Set on this simply elegant white canvas,
I added the terra cotta and bronze tones with the tile
and the Kingdom Animalia plates.
I love the rich but subtle contrast between the two.

The Bay (blue) cloth napkins were dressed with a bundle of bracelets.
I chose to mix the silver and turquoise with the copper because I felt in brought all the different colors into play and tied the table together.

I tucked in a full bay leaf that I bought in the spice section of World Market and a small geranium leaf to tie the centerpiece in.

We brought out the dining room chairs, lit the candles,
and enjoyed a Santa Fe inspired meal!

Our meal included roasted tomato salsa, chicken tortilla soup
and then I concocted a Santa Fe Inspired pizza.
Of course there were some roasted veggies!
And maybe, just maybe, a margarita was involved.
Isn't this tray gorgeous!

And to finish off the meal s'mores - Santa Fe style
with World Market Chipotle chocolate and Chile Lime Chocolate!

Creating this tabelscape brought back some very fond memories and really inspired me. Maybe you need to head to Santa Fe and be inspired too?
